Janelle MacDonald anchors WAVE 3 News at 5 and WAVE 3 News at 6 and also reports during the day Monday through Friday. She started her current position at the end of 2009. Janelle has been at WAVE 3 since 2004 when she was hired as our weekend anchor and reporter during the week. Janelle started her career at our Raycom sister station, KPLC, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. While at KPLC, she did just about every job in the newsroom, beginning as the producer for the morning show, then moving on to reporting and anchoring. She also served as the station's news director for a short time. Janelle is a native of Louisiana, so in coming to Louisville, she has found a new home, and since she's been here, she hasn't found one thing she doesn't like about the city (except maybe the cold ... she's used to the warm, humid weather of the swamps!) She has enjoyed exploring Kentuckiana, getting to know the people in this area and making Louisville her home. Janelle says her love for news is simple: It's getting to know someone new every day when going out on a story. It's also being the person you trust to tell your stories. Some of the big stories she's covered here at WAVE during her career include the trials of David Camm and Charles Boney, the train derailment in Brooks, Kentucky as well as all the strange weather events that have hit our community. The stories she remembers most, however, involve people who have been helped by WAVE 3 and those who have shown their strength during trying times. In her spare time, Janelle enjoys running, reading, catching up with all of her family and friends spread across the country and cheering on her alma mater, Texas Longhorns. Since coming to Louisville, Janelle ran the 2005 Derby Festival Marathon, as well as several mini-marathons. She also served as a volunteer in the ChildLife department at Kosair Children's Hospital and enjoys visiting schools and other organizations across Kentuckiana. |
