April 9th, 2008 @ 11:21PM (17 years ago)

Does anybody find it strange that apparently no one was going to show up for the photo op (awards banquet) but know half of the freakin dept is now up for meritorious unit awards.....and wow did you read some of the reasons they got the unit award......next thing you know we will get awards for turning off light switches and showing up for work. Two words for ya, TRAIN WRECK.

You have to post it like it was reported yesterday, that is "suspect 'allegedly' shoots himself." Implying, of course, "we all know what really happened...."

The above comment needed a little clarification. For the reader that posted it if you will first look at the top of the story you will see that this particular article was reported by Janelle McDonald of Wave 3. If you don't like her wording then ask her about it. Secondly your implication that the word "allegedly" is used in cases where "we all know something else happened" surprises me, although it shouldn't.

The term alleged is often misused by the press in the zest to protect the innocent. An alleged incident is one that has been said to have taken place but has not yet been verified. In criminal cases the defendant is said to have allegedly committed the crime because it has not been proven in court. It doesn't mean a crime hasn't been committed, it just means that they do not definitively state that "John Doe" murdered his wife, they say he is accused of killing her or report that he allegedly killed her. Get the picture?

Now as to your not so subtle innuendo that "wink, wink", we all know the Police shot him and are saying he did it himself. You are a cretin of such submarginal standards that it amazes me you even were able to type that simple phrase. You have absolutely no idea what happened or all of the different agencies involved that investigate each and every death. There is EMS, Traffic, PIU, The emergency room doctors and nurses, the coroner, the Medical Examiner....the list goes on, but according to you there was something other than what was reported that actually took place.

Please, please, please will run for office? We apparently need someone of your subtle wit and obvious intelligence in public office because isn't it obvious that everyone but you is allegedly wrong about this?

Well at least the guy wasn't a coward and forced the Police shoot him ... And Thank God he didn't shoot at the Officers ...It sucks that someone gets down and out that way and thinks they only have 1 way out ... But the best thing is Our Officers don't have to sweat being scrutinized about how they handled the situation ...and they all got to go home ....he sealed his own fate unfortunately ....Thank You for letting me share my opinion and God Bless the Officers and Thank God they all went home to their families !

Headline as read by a beat officer: "Nut shoots himself, big deal"

Headline as read by a left-wing activist: "Of COURSE the police don't shoot white man during pursuit - would have been different if he were a minority"

Headline as read by Jerry: "Maybe we should sell the cars too. Uh oh, I think I'm out of hairgel."

Headline as read by Chief White: "He shot himself, just a suicide, more proof that crime is low. I better go get some hairgel for Jerry"
