FOP Explains Heiner Endorsement

I hear Bill Carcarra is who he is wanting as CHIEF........

I wonder, has anyone done a survey to ask officers who have retired in, say, the last five years, WHY they have retired? I suspect the reason most have left is that they want the raise they get when they retire, draw a pension, and then go back to another policing job. Most don't seem to actually retire, after all, they go get another job, often another policing job. Without that information how they can possibly come up with ways of doing that, short of actually giving them an equivalent raise? (Promising to hire them back after retirement won't work as that is illegal to do right now.)

As a former county officer I can tell you not everyone command wise was in favor of the 4-10s. I don't think we need to be looking at a former county or city person for this or that. We need to be looking for someone who is going to be receptive to our needs. And as already stated it has been 7 years since merger...time to let it go.
