News reported that LMPD endorsed Heiner AND King. Is there any truth to that?

Why is the title of this article "FOP Explains Heiner Endorsement". Somebody needs to explain why we endorsed an idiot on the democrat side or even a democrat at all. If I remember correctly, Mr. King was in agreement with the current mayor about charging us for take home cars.

DALLAS - Six finalists vying for the job as Dallas police chief have now been whittled down to one.

Sources at Dallas City Hall and Dallas police headquarters tell News 8 that the man who will replace Chief David Kunkle is his current second-in-command, First Assistant Chief David Brown. The change will come this week; Chief Kunkle's last day is Friday. Multiple sources have told News 8 that City Manager Mary Suhm will select Brown as Dallas' New police chief. He knows the city; he knows the department; and he is ready to hit the ground running.

Chief David Brown is home-grown, born and raised in Oak Cliff. Now he is poised to lead the Dallas Police Department. In a recent interview with News 8, he said he is ready for the challenge. "I have served as second-in-command during the most successful time that the department has experienced," he said.

That is exactly why sources say David Brown has the advantage. Some City Council members have told News 8 they prefer an inside candidate. The Dallas Police Association backed Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo, but he dropped out late Tuesday saying he wanted to remain in the capital city. "If that's the case, I think the manager made a mistake and allowed some very good candidates to get away," said DPA president Glenn White. But sources say the city manager and the Council like David Brown. He has the unique experience of working directly with Mary Suhm as an interim assistant city manager for a year, where he won her confidence and that of the Council as an able administrator.

What I'd like to ask the Mayoral candidates is what, if anything, they intend to do about the free security Church Hill Downs receives every year for derby. I agree with the traffic enforcement on the tax payers dollar, but I think everything inside of the track should be off duty, or private secuirty work. I wonder if most taxpayers know that their taxes pay for the security of the rich and famous inside the track. I doubt it, and if they did, I'm sure they'd be p.o.ed about it. We try to cover some of the highest crime areas with no cars because everyone is detailed out for this stupid horse race. If I'm ever hurt, you bet your butt I'll be suing the city and church hill downs. No other city does this that I'm aware of. They handle traffic issues only, and everything else is either private secuirty or off duty work. I welcome your opinions.....

Stay safe, go home! Semper Fi

GEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZZ. The FOP once again sticking their nose in politics. That's why we get Screwed now. Just because the FOP endorces Heiner that DOES NOT mean that i'm votiing for him, nor do they speak for the rest of the officers on this dept. I agree in Unity------ But stay the heck out of politics FOP, your not helping the matter.

Another reason we should not have gotten involved with the primary. Fischer comes out the next day and states he'll keep Bob White if he goes in as mayor. Sounds like he's getting even for not being endorced. As for the 4 ten shifts the old county had. I have a good friend that was in on a conversation with good ol Jer ( pre-merger) who made the statement that when these depts are merged officers being off on a 4 day weekend every other week will cease. It doesn't happen in the private sector and it WON'T happen in my administration. So put the blame where it's due. Also I'll retire on my terms and be damned if White or Jer will run me off. I'll stay long enough to get the last laugh which I do to all them on a daily basis.
