The original "favorites" poster could have perhaps stood to have a more mature phrasing but I do not see the harm in having a superior group of officers you admire and learn from. In fact if he is a young officer then I would encourage it. I think it is a simple matter of semantics which has put you off. At least that is how I interpreted it and I am not sure why we couldn't "afford" to think like that.

To your credit though the other people arguing with you took it to the gutter of personal attacks first and made it less discussion and more of a school yard fight.
