You must not be a cop..... saying 10 hour shifts are a negative it 100000000% goofey...those 2 extra hours dont compare to the extra time off to be away from police work.... No one knows how difficult and how much of a demand and it takes out of a person to be a cop.... affer about 10 years, u are wore the F u k OUT!

Except that many officers use that extra time in off-duty work - so you are still as exhausted when you come back - and of course, you may have some court time in there too. Fatigue is becoming a big issue in lawsuits - they are actually looking back at how much true time off (meaning sleep) an officer involved in an incident has gotten. Tired people make mistakes, in driving and in judgment, it's to be expected.
