Merit board reduces suspension of officer who ticketed 7-year-old

The SGT wasn't talking on his phone he looked at it right after he made a comment to her at the staff meeting in regards to her comment that respect on the department needs to come from the bottom up and he replied it needs to come from the top down as well. This was a time were someone stood up for us officers and he got burned for it. They are never going to admit that the problems on this dept is primarily at 633 W Jefferson. Unfortunately for this SGT his career will be stalemate while she is in that position. By the way he got a letter for curtousy. I guess if someone tells the truth and the other person doesn't like it they can use this policy to get them. But what about her cursing at the roll all table at the sgt. I was in the hallway and could hear it. Awesome double standards and leadership on this dept. keep your head up sarge and carry on, you definitely do your job above standard and put the troops before yourself.

What freakin cry babies. Face it, Col Gentry is the Deputy Chief. You may not respect her for who she is, but we all need to respect her for the rank. Roll calls are out of control. Sergeants dont handle thier business. Officer's texting, eating, talking during the roll call. It is all new officers who I see doing this behavior. I dunno what they are teaching them in the Academy, but seems to me they need to learn respect. I'm sure we all can remain quiet and content for a ten minute roll call. I do agree that not all Divisions should get punished for this, but it is what it is. Lets move forward because it's not going away by bitching about it.
