I tell people all the time why it took me so long to get to their run. They all expect us to go lights and siren because it is an emergency for them so I have to tell them the very few runs that I am allowed to go code for. I even made a run recently that was a fire/ems type run but the kind where they will usually wait for us to make first contact. I got there as soon as I could but they had already made the decision to enter and handle it. I got the idea that they were wondering what took me so long and I asked them if they were aware of our policies. They were all shocked to know that we can't go code to everything like they can. I just assumed all other emergency agencies knew people hated the police and that has led to us having our hands tied behind our backs. People don't mind seeing a fire truck or ambulance going lights and siren but everyone seems to get mad if the police are the ones causing them an inconvenience. Of course most of them won't get out of our way when we are going lights and sirens anyways. I would love to get cancelled on a code run and be able to go back and find all the people with their heads up their butts who can't figure out what lights and siren on a police car means.

Your are so right how dare I think Louisville Metro Policeman need to slow down. You guys do not need lights.. It should be a law that if a citizen who sees a Louisville Metro Patrol Car we should all pull over and let them pass. I will write my Counsel Member and see if that law can be passed. Now I am sure the citizen in Louisville need to get a video when we think you are driving aggressively. We then can give it to your supervisor and the public and see if we can get a few things changed. Us lowly citizens that drive these rode too want to make sure we know all the facts so we do not jump to any assumptions. You would think I would know by now when someone trying to run over me after all I have been driving for over 30 years and I have driven in almost all the states. I am sure you are so right I just didn't know the facts.

It would be all right to run over a citizen if you were late to work. Let see we had a Metro Patrolman do that already. In fact you guys can drive in the emergency lanes on I65 and run over a man putting gas in his car. You also can drive 80 plus miles and hour at night with no lights on because you were going to a side job. Another citizen bites the dust. Just let us know where we need to go when we see a Metro Police Car driving down the road. I just want to be safe. Please Don't Run Over Me
