Very true. We do make it easy for them because we keep working. What is the option though? Do we not honor our oaths? To not keep our promise to our neighbors, our spouses, our children? It is a catch 22. If we don't do our best out here, then we lose what we want to keep safe.

It comes down to pride. I am still proud to be in this career. We have been kicked, whipped and otherwise beaten down by those that were promoted for politics, yet many of us keep on doing what is right in spite of them, and sometimes to spite them. After all, they can never order us to not police. They can't order me to not take a BURGLARY report. Some in command might change the burglary to Criminal Mischief or CT 3 to make their "sectors" look good, but I will still make the report in a manner that will make it hard for them to do so.

I don't do anything for the command staff, never have, and never will.

This isn't their department, it is mine. It is yours. I will outlast this current batch of nincompoops as I have outlasted other majors and colonels. They come and go, but the officers will remain. It is OUR department, the sooner that certain majors and colonels learn this, the better suited they will be to return the rank of lieutenant. The sooner that certain lieutenants who desperately want to get promoted and keep sucking the clown juice learn this, the sooner they might step back.

This was never Bob White's department, it was mine, and ours.

It surely isn't most of the colonels departments. It isn't some of the majors and many of the lieutenants and sergeants department. It is mine, it is ours.

In the end it is pride. So be proud, do what you know is right. You will outlast these clowns that make our department look incompetent.

And before you start to bash me for not just collecting my check and being happy, remember why we are supposed to be here. If your attitude of "government welfare" becomes our overall attitudes, the portion of the public that does support us can easily choose to turn its back.
