RE: Sixteen apply for Louisville police chief's post
This was discussed just recently about some of the non patrol officers thinking patrol was beneath them.

Just like every Marine is a rifleman (or woman) at the core, every officer should be a patrol/uniformed officer at the core. How many of you who have been out of uniform for quite a while even own a uniform that still fits? In some agencies in the country, at least once a year, no matter what, EVERYONE wears a uniform for inspection - from the chief on down.

C'mon now. I've heard the word elite used sarcastically, but not seriously. And the person I heard use it is in a specialty unit and IS NOT afraid to get their hands dirty. Also, not all special units aren't in uniforms. Why do we always digress into a pi$$ing contest on this website? We're all blue. Period. Even if you perceive some of the specialty folks as thinking they are better, what are you by coming and posting about it anonymously on the internet? You're just feeding the monster. Get over it already. Nobody is better... not even you by posting as if you're somehow "above" thinking of yourself as special. We're all special. Group hug.
