It's beginning to look a lot like Jerry everywhere you go. Ho! Ho! Ho!

Yeah, it sure reminds me a lot of Jerry. (sarcasm alert--for the person that believed me on Chief White's car at the airport story) Except that he quickly addressed the car issue, the fire fighter issue, the MSD issue, the Metro Animal Services issue, the Iron Quarter issue, etc, etc. You may be correct that he kept several of the old faces. However, either they changed their tune, or he isn't listening to them. I did not vote for Mayor Fischer, but I have nothing against him. He has done as he promised. To this point, he has run our city fiscally, not politically. I'm sure I wouldn't agree with everything he has done, but from what I've seen, this entire town has it a lot better than we did a year ago. I know things can change, but I also know our last mayor never ran a multi-million dollar business in the black.

On a side note, I and probably over 100 other LMPD officers witnessed the mayor attend the Colts football game last week. This is the game that we were offered tickets to. Not only did he attend, but he climbed the bazillion stairs that we climbed to sit in the upper deck. Then he sat next to LMPD officers. I know that wasn't earth shattering, but he earned a lot more respect from me for that than I ever thought about giving the previous administration. (Thanks to those involved in getting us those tickets. My son and I had an absolute blast.)

Yes, I know we still have a contract pending, and all the positive and negative rumors are flying. And although I like what I've seen so far, I won't let my guard down and take the first offer because somebody sat with me at a football game. I will, however, go into it believing that maybe, just maybe, he is trying to right the ship financially. Could you imagine if he did? This city would be rolling in money. I am actually looking forward to the future at LMPD, and I believe that a majority of us are in the same boat. Let's back each other up, keep each other safe, and make this place a safe home for those among us who still reside in the Metro.

Happy New Year!!!
