At least 600 DUI cases in jeopardy because of lapsed Breathalyzer certifications |

This is wrong on so many levels, including the BA folks at Corrections. Of course the command staff should have some type of oversight, but the individuals have to share in the responsibility too. If it is part of your job responsibilities, then you have to be proactive and make sure your ducks are in a row. This is just unfogivable regarding all of these folks.

Really?
Tell ya what - when was the last time you scheduled your own training? Oh, never...right? We (I'm not in BA, buying do have a position that requires me to stay certified on some things)don't get to decide when we go to training. All we can do is advise when we need it. Its up to the lieutenants to schedule uus out, since they are the ones who write the schedule.
Most of you may not be aware, but even getting admin to provide range time for qualifications was difficult. We still haven't done shotgun, and aren't scheduled for that until JANUARY...so, yeah, its a PITA to get out for training. The command doesn't like OT, and that's a necessity when scheduling people out.
If you want to throw someone under the bus, I know a certain captain who just left training. The newly promoted one has NOTHING to do with this, since he's only been out there a couple of months....his predecessor, however, is a different story. He even (so I've been told) passed on some BS info that resulted in our admin making some rather untrue and unkind remarks in the media. Officers are not, have not, and will never be responsible for their own training. If you think that, I'd suggest a reality check by telling your platoon sergeant you won't be at roll call tomorrow due to some training g you thought sounded cool. Let me know how it turns out.
Oh, and Todd Shaw - if you're reading this, I heard about your FB comments. Really? Discipline the OFFICERS, because the admin refused and/or neglected to send them to recertify? You can shove that **** where the sun doesn't shine. I thought you knew better than that...and yeah, we know each other.
