Candidates voice interest in Louisville police chief job |
RE: Candidates voice interest in Louisville police chief job
If your platoon mates were indeed "written" for the no stats get them to the FOP asap. Those bosses are screwed.
But I have to agree with what is being said here, we as an agency failed you guys. You weren't told to stand in the back of the roll call rooms and shut up, listen and learn. You weren't told YOU were responsible for your beats and that you should be offended when someone else handled the problems. You weren't told that a warning today is information tomorrow. The ability to NOT lock someone up, or to hold charges, is our greatest strength in getting information. Is it extortion? Heck yeah, is it legal? Oh yeah, it is. But we didn't teach you that.
And writing a citizen who is polite, apologetic and respectful is never the way to go. It only makes them mad at us and then we lose their support, but we never taught you that either.
We also didn't teach you how to use your notebooks, spell or define make probable cause. We also didn't teach you to not go into bars and make an arse of yourself, or fight your fellow officer who is dealing with your drunk sister.
We failed you. sigh.
