only going to get worse on the beat officer. In order to reduce the district detective's case load the beat officer is going to be assigned ALL misd. cases they take reports on to follow-up and close out. This will allow the detective to only work felony cases. The beat officer will be busier than ever and still be required to keep up their tick marks so not to be in trouble with the front office.

You are exactly right. I took a burglary report last week, where someone did enter a residence and destroyed property. And did nothing else and I believe the Detective SGT changed it to criminal mischief....things that make you go hmm

William Summers IV, the chief administrative officer for Louisville Metro Government, has agreed to a request of Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer to stay in the post for up to two more years.

"The mayor politely twisted his arm" in getting him to forego retirement, at least in the immediate future, said Fischer spokesman Chris Poynter. Summers, 67, has a city salary of $117,637 a year.

Louisville Metro Police Chief Robert White, Fire Chief Greg Frederick, directors of several other public-safety units and Ted Pullen, director of the Department of Public Works and Assets, all report to Summers.

Does this mean Summers is now the Public Safety Director? The entire article is online with the Courier Journal today.

Are you refferring to Major Mark Fox who thinks that ticket writing is the only thing that cops should do. He is so busy trying to impress downtown with all the tickets his 3 ticket cars write, it is ridiculous. 7th Division fatals are higher this year, just because of the odds. I would rather see the ticket cars catch real badguys. How about that Major.
