You're way off the mark there, kiddo. I can't think of one...not one....officer that became hated/disliked/etc simply because he or she achieved rank. I can think of plenty that became disliked because they achieved rank and have no business leading the local YMCA 5 year old basketball team, much less a group of police officers. Sometimes it's not even really their fault. They take advantage of a horrible, unjust promotional process that our civil service and merit board have in place right now. Doesn't take away from the fact that they have no business being in a leadership position. The appointed promotions that are at the descretion of the Chief are even worse. He doesn't have any process in his way and still promotes those that I wouldn't follow to the Circle K....yet they command whole divisions or more.
