Does anyone know why any of Miller's C.O's let things go on? Why they make him an "acting SGT! Good Greif

I think the CJ forgot to add that White has created mass confusion on relation to his policies. He has created thousands of new policies almost daily and created almost daily updates and changes to go along with them. How can anyone be expected to be well versed in so many policies and constant changes to to them? I am willing to bet a years salary that anyone can take the Policy and Procedure manual into Whites Office and open it to random pages and even he won't be able to tell you what the policy is on random subjects. So how can anyone be expected to be held to the letter of each and every policy? Anyone from the Chief down to the newest recruit violates policies, unintentionally daily for the reason of the sheer volume of policies. White has created a monster bureaucracy any fan of big government would be in awe of.

And since the CJ did a story on how many Officers White has disciplined when will they do a story on how many he has given commendations to and how many that did heroic and courageous acts and were not recognized by him?

Lets face it the man is a weak leader that was given his position by a crooked mayor in order to pacify and buy the votes of a certain segment of our community. Crime is worse than ever and continues to get worse daily, time for a new leader at LMPD!

And lets see a report on how many more layoffs we can expect at the Courier Journal, keep up the great work CJ reporters you and your company are doing soooooo well!! All those "rogue" officers the CJ reported on will still have a job, too bad most of the CJ employees may not. : )

1. I'm glad the CJ is flushing itself down the drain.

2. I really doubt the Chief prays before each disciplinary decision he makes.

3. I'll take a good cop with numerous courtesy and force complaints as backup over a limpwrist house cat anyday.

4. Our termination numbers are dramatically lower than civilian businesses of the same numbers/time frame.

5. Accept the fact that good aggressive officers probably won't go 20-25years without going to the Principals Office

Link to the Mayors survey about Public Safety here in Louisville. I suggest the people that know what REALLY is going on with Public Safety respond to this survey.

I especially enjoy the chief talking about 'Truth' as an essential core value of a police officer, which it is, and then ignore his past indescretions in Washington D.C. and the command staff cover-ups he has done here. By that I mean not disciplining friends who broken the law and/or violated policy.

An honest question:

I seem to remember a certain few officers that seemed to deserve to be fired. I think one was in 2006, and he wrecked his patrol car after taking an Ambien with a vodka. A little before that, I think that another one was caught trying to pass a forged prescription. And somewhere in the mix, another one failed a drug test and admitted to smoking marijuana.

With all honesty, some cases (like the ones I mentioned) seem to deserve it. From the public: you are sworn to enforce law, but not to unnecessarily break it. I say "unnecessarily" because it is a given that you must use physical violence and atypical driving tactics, etc as part of doing your job. Outside of that, I do not see how DUI, forgery and recreational drug use are permitted legally or ethically.

All things being equal: are White's choices to discipline and / or retain certain people so out of line? I understand that everyone has merits that should be considered, but some things (like wrecking an agency car while DUI) seem to be obvious career enders.

Since this site seems hell bent on flaming people, let me place a few things out in the blogosphere. I worked with Shara in the 5th and I can tell you she is not only good people, but good police. She worked hard, studied hard and got herself promoted. I will not ever fault her for that. I haven't worked for her since she moved onward and upward, but can tell you that as a person she is top notch. Take it or leave it, I don't care.

If you need to discuss any issue please feel free to call me.

For 30 years I've watched this police dept go down hill. There was a time when we were a family and watched each others back. No one bad mouthed the police because we stuck together. Officers now can't really be trusted because the puzzle palace has put fear in them ( don't say I'm a liar) because you know it's the truth. I've went from seeing a chief and command staff walking into a district or division once a month to once every 5 years. I haven't seen half the new majors or command and probaby wouldn't know them if I did. It's sad. I'm getting ready to end my tour and really feel sorry for the new guys. You can say good riddence crybaby but you never knew how it was at one time. I really feel for the guys with 25 years to go on this dept because I really think no one cares anymore. We get on this site and run each other in the ground yet we want to call ourselves FAMILY. I don't think so. Everyone is trying to find their niche from day one. I have worked with some of the best people in this city yeah the ones sitting next to me everyday and will miss that. As far as the upper command I WON"T MISS A ONE except the ones that have stuck out. I hope maybe someday a chief will come in and clean house and put in the ones that deserve to command not a bunch of as$ kissers like we have now. I know i'll catch a lot of hell for this post but that's okay. I'm not afraid to say what evryone else is thinking. Be safe watch each others back were all we have.

KS is an idiot. So I guess they will make him a major, he'll fit right in with the rest at the puzzle palace.
