You are right on, the whole system is failing and it just gets worse erery year. Do what you can and in the long run just try to have a little fun along the way.

I do my job, sometimes it's frustrating, but I still do what I'm meant to do. I can sleep well at night (I mean morning) knowing that I've done what I'm supposed to do. If the court system drops the charges, oh well, he/she will get caught again. Eventually something will stick. I've seen a pocs1st charge warrant with a 100 dollar fine and I've seen a no-insurance warrant with 10 dts???????? wtf??????? I don't make the rules just enforce them. Maybe that will help maybe it won't. Answer your calls is all I ask. If you don't want to squirrel then don't, just don't hang off the air. believe it or not driving around does prevent crime.

For the record, they ARE arrestable until June 8.

Work ethics, pride in a job well done, actually earning my paycheck. In this day and age those terms sound out of place almost hokie. This line of work is not for everyone and is not easy. Some days (nites) when I get home I want to wake the wife to just talk about how Fvked up people are and the world would be better off if they all were culled from the heard. Other nites you drink a beer and play video games to lessen the blow and distract your mind from what you have seen. Then on that extremity rare occasion you hope she is awake to tell her how you saved a life, made a really big bust, or even rarer when someone approaches from the past and thanks you for the ten minutes you took to speak with them over their problems and they listened, got their shid together. YOU have changed not only that persons life but their kids their families and everyone that interacts with them. The way we cope may be different but the rare good wins against the odds keep you going till your time is up. Just keep fighting against the dragon, and when you stop the fight and lose heart, hit your reset switch, *****, cry,moan. If you find you have lost the fight permanently, is time to seek employment elsewhere.

Let me tell you this from 22 yrs worth, that 75% will keep dropping. The key is this- would you rather give up and quit and let someone who may not really care at all take up space and get paid to do it or would you rather stay in the fight knowing one day when its over you can say you fought the good fight and did what you could do. Even if 99% of what you did turned out to be nothing, one day, one time you WILL make a difference. And sometimes that one time is what makes it worth it.
