Officer profiled as rookie to get three awards

That was my question. I was just curious what the criteria was for the award. I know guys that have been hurt alot worse than that on duty. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not disrespecting anyone. The Officer this article is about seems to have deserved it. I am just curious what the difference is.
