Don't lump everyone together. There are a lot of us who bust our a$$ for lmpd with only college. What you should look at are the people who were hired who have no writing skills and cannot put together a complete sentence. I saw several get hired above me who did not have any kind of education and they are now fired because they were retards. experience is only gained on the job here, so you wily vets need to help school them instead of bash them. we are a team and family whether you like it or not.

A Bachelor's Degree in 2010 is basically what a high school diploma was in 1980, the times have changed and the department has changed accordingly. I don't see how a person who works their way through college and gets an education has any less "life experience" than if they had forgone college and drove a truck or stocked shelves for four years. I know some great, hard working officers who didn't have a "real job" before becoming the police and I also know some complete idiots who were hired without any "real" job experience. I also know some great officers with 10+ yrs. on who didn't go to college but know just as many turds who were hired without college degrees and have that much time on. It's not about college or lack of college, but rather about the type of person the department hires.
