Sorry, absolutely DISAGREE. If they want to tuck the taser away when sitting at a desk, fine, but when they leave the building, they should NOT be wearing any less, and that includes vest, than officers on the beat. If they don't want to do that, then they should not be wearing a uniform. Once they appear in public, they are just as likely to get involved in something, the bad guys don't care what brass they are wearing on the collar, all they are looking at is the badge. Because they don't do it, they don't comprehend the physical issues of hauling around 30 pounds of stuff, and the possibility of sciatica, etc., because of undue pressure on certain points on the body. It also means it is easy for them to make rules that they, themselves, don't intend to follow.
