Yeah, probably a 2003 with 168,000 miles on it, that shifts sideways when you accelerate.

Actually, I drive an SUV - and no, I rarely get broke down, but I do have to stop by the side of the road pretty regularly. (In other words, they would have no idea why I'm there.) In every other county where I drive, I'm rarely there for more than a few minutes before an officer of some flavor stops by to check on me, make sure I don't need help. In Jefferson County, I have never, ever had an LMPD officer stop - but I have had CVE (used to be KVE), a couple of deps, a Shively guy, once.

My job requires me to stop regularly in the shoulder, so unfortunately, I spend a lot of time there. Now, I'm wearing a vest most of the time, if I'm actually on or near the roadway, but that is fairly new, since my employer finally sprung for one.

And bottom line is, LMPD officers are supposed to stop unless they are on a pressing run - so ... why do so many not do so?

I did find the LMPD officer with the rifle on 64 the other day rather entertaining. I assume he was planning to shoot the turkey that was wandering along. I thought about stopping to remind them that turkey are hunted with shotguns and bows, and that it wasn't the season for turkey anyway. Have no idea if he got the bird, though.
