First of all, whether you're a citizen, an officer with ten minutes on, or a veteran officer with 20 years on the street if you weren't there in that situation then you cannot accurately say what you would have done. Heat of the moment, heart rate close to 200, split seconds to decide, weather conditions, etc. Fact is NOBODY knows how they would react in a particular situation until they are in 'that' particular situation. Monday morning quarterbacking is the easy part. In this instance the threat was stopped and all the officers and bystanders went home safely. That is a success! Also, if you're making opinions based on what has been reported then you're not making an informed opinion. The news is making it sound as though this mentally disturbed man was just standing around with a hammer, and when he didn't drop it as he was told, he got shot. It was a pick hammer that could easily kill someone with one blow to the head/neck. When the 1st officer arrived the subject came out in a full sprint trying to attack the officer, and a short time later once again ran towards other officers with the same hammer and was then fatally wounded. Anyone who says deadly force wasn't justified or that these officers didn't do a good job is an idiot. The officers involved and the family of the man killed are in my prayers. And please try to get the facts before you get on here and make a damn fool of yourself!

Uhhh, actually, yeah, some teams DO use the acronym SWATT, in fact, I believe that was the old Jeff County terminology. (The extra T was, I believe, for Team.)
