Firstly, I appreciate a civilised response, its a rarity these days.

The question you answered, it was asked more rhetorically than anything else. It is just impractical to think that anyone can just give up their living to do something else on the premise of a dare. I chose my occupation, and I will put the downside to my job against the downside of a police officer any day of the week. Im not demeaning the job of a police officer, because we both work a menial pretty much thankless job. Just as you have your ups and downs, and people you can never please, so do we. People want what they want when they want it, but they dont want trucks in their way on the roads.

Ive said it before, ON A DAILY BASIS all of society relies on truckers far more than they do cops.

I dont know the details of your contracts, but I am pretty sure that thee isnt a provision that cops getto grant each other immunity to traffic laws. So, the way I see it, if you are going to grant yourselves extra "perks" then you lose the right to complain about being asked to PARTIALLY pay for one that you have. I understand the pay issue, and I would be happy to side with you over it, but the fact is, most people, including me, dont have the luxury of a union to enforce a contract, were all on our own. Aside from the fact that itsbeen pretty much expressed on here that you all hate me for my opinions and facts, so i dont know why I should really care back.

As far as unpaid work, truckers get paid for driving. They go off the clock in traffic jams. They are off the clock in inclimate weather that prohibits driving. Most do not get paid for the hours they are required to wait for loading and unloading. Youre simply not alone in having an "employer" who takes advantage of you. So, while you may not force an hourly employee work and not pay them for the time, employers can do exactly that on piece/rate, mileage, or percentage wages.

You referenced that officers must stop, but you didnt say for what. I have seen officvers drive by accidents, stranded motorists, I have even seen people brazenly commit traffic offenses in front of officers and they just pretended they didnt see it. Recently I watched a motorist pull a u-turn on I 65 at the southern county line, right in front of a cop in the silver explorer, who was parked IN THE VERY CROSSOVER. Now, whether you are required to stop traffic offenses or not, that motorist was STUPID beyond belief, as I cant count how many accidents that action has caused in my driving career. That officer was even on duty, and did nothing. but less than a half hour later, he had a vehicle pulled over.

In closing, the points that I made, while I stand behind them, werent meant as a question to be answered, they were stated merely as evidence of how so many on here have made accusations against me, but completely excuse the EXACT same actions when they are committed by "their" side.

Its simply an example of do as I say, not as I do. Well, im not their child, and theyre not my parents, so that stopped working on me over 30 years ago.
