RE: 7th Division Officer Shot While Responding To Domestic Call
The problem, as I see it, is that the community perception of the police has been tainted. Tainted by us, tainted by the mayor, tainted by the media.
We know what we do. We know how we do it. However we are horrible at explaining those vary acts to the public. Why? In some cases I never want to talk about the horrors of seeing a dead child on the side of the road again... Nor do I wish to relive those moments in wish I was forced to use deadly force, here and in the service of my nation. I do like to talk about the humor... those moments you can't make up... These are the stories that movies scripts are based on.
However, when it comes to my brethren safety and life, I will gladly inconvenience others... I have inconvenienced others in getting adults and children to University Hosptial, and I will do it again... I will also inconvenience others when I see them failing to stop and move for an ambulance, fire truck and funeral processions.
So in short, while I respect your opinion, and have fought for your right to spew any thoughts you may have, I choose to disagree.
