Some people just don't get it. If it were up to me everytime someone was in danger I would shut the road down for them... but that is not realistic. But for a police officer.. ABSOLUTELY. How about you go back to the main LMPD.COM web page and look along the far left side of the page at the section that says Officer Down. That is the chance you take when you do this job. Guess what, police officers don't complain about that risk they just do it day in and day out. So the next time you decide to post something as ignorant as that again how about you include the link to the website for your job that says ______ down. Thats right. YOU CAN'T. You don't understand and you never will. God Bless you Andrea. Get well soon.

I believe the reason for that would be they wanted the appearence of more police on the road. As far as 2 officers responding, well, that is a problem with the suburban districts. I usually see it posted alot here about the suburban districts not being the "real police", well they do that every day out there. I was talking to an 8th Div. officer yesterday and come to find out they work with less officers daily than the urban districts, yes they make less runs I agree. But they make most runs alone, along with a 20 min. drive to get there. They do not have the beat partner that is only a block or two away like we do, usually there is only one person per beat, not always but you have to remember most beats there are larger than urban divisions.

I have always heard that officers usually will not back each other up there, and that was the issue I took up with him. In my ignorance I questioned him why her beat partner took so long to arrive given the current events involving police. Needless to say I stand corrected, after talking with him for about an hour at the courthouse I have a different opinion. Now don't get me wrong I meant no disrespect toward suburban officers, I just did not realize all the circumstances involved that they deal with also.

Just wanted to put that out there.

What are the Pro's vs Cons of 2 person units? Could it have made a difference Wednesday? Please post your opinions!

2-man cars

2-man cars are the way to go. Sending 1 officer to respond anything except a routine report run is taking a huge risk with the lives of the officer and the public in a city like Louisville. The endless paperwork involved in doing reports aggravates an already bad situation with LMPD being short staffed to the point of endangering the officers and the public. It wouldn't be quite as bad if we put the legions of keyboard cops and paperpusher police back on the street.
