I must totally agree with the response to the simple minded comment from "Joe Taxpayer". How dare you complain about the treatment of an officer of the law who was seriously injured on the job. I'm not a cop, but I work with them day in and day out in my job and while I don't agree with everything that everyone of them does each day, I have a great and overwhelming respect for the job that they do for this community. If one of them, man or woman, needs an escort because he/she put his her life on the line and took one from a P.O.S. in this community they so be it. To add to you comment about "no ordinary citizen receiving an escort" I must also let you know that back a few months ago when a thief stole a car, ran from police, crashed the car in front of Noe Middle School, the police shut down much of the road leading to University Hospital to take the driver of the car and one of his victims to the hospital. They didn't have to, but they did. So before you go popping off at the mouth why don't you investigate the facts of what you're running your mouth about. Better yet, why don't you ride along with an officer and see what it's like to have to do their job. To have a gun pulled on you or to have to chase a suspect that has no intention of surrendering. Bet you'd change your tune then.
