What more can you say as you said it very well. Even though we don't always see eye to eye we know that you have our back when it hits the fan and that is appreciated.

Thanks...............................................

What a great response. As a veteran Officer I absolutekly hate to hear someone call off their back-up or say they will advise. I cannot stand to hear any Officer say that he is 1086 right after calling off on something.. You do not know! You aren't 1086; till the run is over or there are several Officers there tohandle whatever the situation may be.

Remember to always be vigilant. Always call off. ALways wear your vest and Always;..A;lways...Alwaysk;;;;; thereis no such thing as a routine run. The expired tag you pull over may have someone that wants to suicide by cop.

Ask Travis Hatchell if he expected to be shot at on a motorist assist.

Whether or not you all believe it we think of you all as family, even if we are not officers ourselves. We have been trained that responder safety is our #1 priority, and when something happens to one of you all it hits us all pretty hard. We are responsible for keeping up with where you are and keeping you informed for your safety. We appreciate everything you do for this city, and I am honesty proud to say that I get to work so closely with LMPD. I wish the public would have more knowledge of what a great department they have protecting their city, and I wish the Mayor would understand what you all have to go through. Maybe he should go on a ride along in an urban division and see what the real downtown looks like past all those pretty trees he has put up! Thank You all very much for your service, and like everyone else I am praying for a speedy recovery of your sister in blue!

I'm sorry but... I mean, most of your post is fine by me, but what would be the point of calling out on every run that is taken via MDT? Wouldn't that really defeat the purpose of having that ability entirely? What's difference would being able to put ourselves out on a run make when you want us to also call out on it? Seems like we should just skip the step of the MDT and call out, according to your plan. There somebody specific you want to talk to during these traffic stops? Seems like it.

"i know that some officers have developed the habit of only calling out when they want to search a car or when they get that "feeling". What happens when you dont get that "feeling" and the normal looking guy that you only stopped for an expired tag just lost his job and his mind and happens to have a weapon in the car. I am not at all trying to tell any of you how to do your job, " You are kind of contradicting yourself to me by saying that. Not trying to tell anyone how to do their job, but in the sentence before, you gave a lecture about cops that don't get that feeling and a weapon being in the car and drama ensuing... You personally familiar with traffic stops like that?

I get what you were trying to say in your post, but some of it just rubbed me wrong, I suppose. Sounds a little like you have a personal issue with some traffic-related cops not talking to you on the radio... but what's the point of MDT runs if you want cops to do it your way instead? Have you thought of recommending to your superior to do away with officers being able to put themselves on runs? Sounds like maybe you should.
