If cops going to court actually DID put criminals in jail, that comment might have some merit, but all it really does is waste the city's money. In most cities, cops aren't summoned to court unless they are actually NEEDED - which is not the case at least 90 percent of the time. In most cases, the cop is barely even acknowledged, let alone asked about anything related to the case.

I expect the story will have an interesting effect - cops show up, cost the city money, clog up the system. Don't agree to dismiss ANYTHING.
