Right now, today, the FOP needs to hire a PR firm. Not just a spokesperson, but someone who can pay attention to what the media/public is saying, and be proactive about getting out accurate information. Do some short videos, one per question, and post them up to YouTube. Spread the word, via letters to the editor, etc. to get people to check them out. Start a Facebook group.

Officers get free cars? No, they aren't free, officers are already paying, and still have to respond on their own time if in the car. (And that has got to stop - if you do ANYTHING while off-duty, document it and claim it. I don't know an officer that couldn't make up the 100 bucks just in OT - DO IT. Just like the cars aren't part of the contract, neither does it say we have to do this work for free, right? Two can play in that - it's not in the contract game.)
