I only drive mine to and from work.
So you say I should give jerry $100 a month and pay $250 in car insurance and wait for it to go up in July. Thats $1450 a year and that does not include the free work I perform while driving it.
How about I park it and drive the vehicle in my garage that is paid for and I already pay insurance on. It will use a gallon of fuel a day to and from work. Gas at $2 a gallon x 5 days = $10 a week or $40 a month means I'll pay $480 for gas. If you subtract two weeks vacation time and it will be less.
Then during the next contract negotiations maybe we can make as much as Jtown, St. Mathews, or other cities our size because the cars are not worth the $5000.00 a year benefit they claim they are.
