When gas was $4.16/gallon, The mayor very publicly stated that for each penny that gas prices rose, it costs the city $35K per month. Seeing how gas is now $1.61/gallon, my math tells me that the city is currently saving $8.925M per month with the decline in costs. It seems to me that the $20M shortage could be made up in 2 1/2 months if gas prices remain where they are now.
