ACLU criticizes LMPD tazer use

your a MORON. Deadly force is just that......Deadly Force. The Taser is "less than lethal" meening it is less likely to cause anyones death. You want to do alot of ranting and raving about how your cousin (sniff sniff sniff) "almost" was killed by a handgun. What you don't state is why he was shot by the police. What was he doing at that time? Was he holding up a store or assulting someone, or maybe he was just to stupid to do what the officer told him to do which was to put the gun down. Alot of people want to blame the police for actions taken without realizing or wanting to put the blame where is should be. That is on the person who initiated the incident and has control over the directions it goes......that would be the person who the police were called about. In this case it was your cousin. He had complete control over what happened or could have happened. If he listened to the police and did what they told him he would not have been shot is 2003 nor would he have had the Taser used on him. I have taken the Taser ride during training (the full 5 seconds) and I am still here. As another poster said.......maybe it is due to not doing drugs and boozing it up all day long before the ride. By the way, keep the attitude of wanting to be shot instead of having the Taser deployed. When you screw up and behave in a way the police have to come and talk to you let them know that. Don't do anything they ask you to do and resist, fight and run from them you MORON.

I'd just like to say I'd take the taser over getting shot in the leg ANY DAY. I'd much rather suffer less than 30 seconds of pain than take a bullet. But I mean, that's obviously just my logical thinking. I don't see much coming from you.

Just a little aside, it's kind of funny that you claim people thinking when it's one of their loved ones, it should change the facts. I had a friend get tased by the police and the idiot deserved it. He was actin like a sloppy drunk and tried to fight the cops. Sorry but even being his friend, I know he made the STUPID decision. I also lost a friend in 1993 who got killed by the police in a fight. The cop also got shot. I'm sad about his death and that his life went in that direction when he was so young (he was 20), but even as a teen then, I knew his decisions and the life he led resulted directly in what happened. I was angry as a teen, but especially now as an adult, I recognize what the police had to do. I don't for a second think it was easy for the cop to live with shooting and killing Lee, and I most certainly don't blame him when Lee made the decisions and put the cop in that position. There's a little thing called thinking before you speak and you really should try sometime.

p.s. it truly is a fact that innocent people don't run. I don't believe in all this 'they scared of da police' nonsense. innocent people don't run, no matter what attitude they have about cops. just the same, cops don't just shoot random people standing in the street obeying the law and acting civilized. if you can give me ONE example of this happening to somebody, I'll buy your line of BS

UMMM, *MAYBE* YOUR COUSIN SHOULD HAVE DONE WHAT THE POLICE TOLD HIM IN A CALM AND NON AGRESSIVE MANNER AND HE WOULD STILL BE ALIVE? JUST A THOUGHT, AS THE POLICE DONT USE TAZERS UNLESS THEY HAVE TO. IN 99.9% OF THE SITUATIONS WHERE CITIZENS ENCOUNTER THE POLICE THE *CITIZEN* SETS THE TONE FOR THE ENCOUNTER. IT IS A PROVEN FACT IF YOU DONT RUN THE POLICE CANNOT CHASE YOU.
