RE: Radio system faces final step

MetroUnsafe as you call it suffers from a lack of leadership. The deputy director is afraid to show her face in the room, and the management outside of the floor supervisors steers clear of the place like the plague. Dougy boy likes to flex his muscle and fire people to keep the rest of them scared, and half the time on appeal he loses.

There is a 5 to 1 ratio of dispatchers to supervisors/management right now. Why is that? Because over 30 dispatchers have quit since merger. That's right, 1/3 of the dispatchers are no longer there, and I am one of them. Thank goodness, I didn't realize how poorly I was being treated until I got a better job with better hours, no mandatory overtime, no holidays, nothing.

When I was there ALL I cared about was the officers on the beat. Not everyone there did, does, or ever will, but I always felt like most cared. Some were obviously there because it's the only job in town paying $40,000 starting out with great benefits, no college required. I left because I missed my family. Hell, when I started we were making $24,000 a year, and some people started before me at lower than half of that rate. Once the pay went up though, Jerry decided to take it out on us by not hiring 30 more people, thus the overtime debacle of the last 3 years.
