Chief apologizes for officers actions at skating rink

Guys, we really ought to start videotaping this stuff.

Can someone tell me, do these kids go through metal detectors or seaches before going into these places? I have a real and ongoing fear that something is going is going to happen inside one of these places, and there is going to be a "nightclub" type incident, which a lot of people killed. Who is inspecting these places, who is checking on Friday and Saturday nights to ensure that they aren't over their occupancy limit? Having been by RR lately, I can't believe that they aren't regularly.

Another poster (apparently an LMPD officer) claims that if they were working the job off-duty, that they should not have been allowed to call for help, they should have handled it themselves. Seriously, though, I think a lot of these businesses hiring off-duty officers are allowed to hire too few officers to save money. That gives the illusion of safety to parents and the like.

Here's a question for you guys, don't know the answer. When you have a group of officers as described - LMPD officers from Urban or Suburban, deputies and Shively PD at the same event - how do they communicate? What radio frequency do they use? Suburban is on VHF, Urban and the SO are on UHF, don't know about Shively off-hand. Have no idea about Corrections, either, do these guys even HAVE radios?
