the only way this department will take back the streets in this city and raise from the ruins that this adminstration has created is by appointting true leaders who are cops not politicians.

I wonder what is going to happen with Phil Turner. He was on the new the day prior saying the peper spray was used due to the actions of the kids involved and the risk to the officers from the group. That is against what the chief said yesterday.

Where were these concerned parents and if I left my child at a function and it was called off early I would think that my child would call me and I would be right there to pick them up even if it was midnight it is my kid and my responsibility (no one at this rink had a cell phone to call for a ride) If Valley kids acted in such a manner yes it would of happen there you can not try to disarm a person or try to be over powering because there are more of you in number then them but that is how some people think I am in public with a group so lets act a fool and then blame someone else for the reprecussions blah blah blah and no I am not a poice officer just a concerned TAXPAYING WORKING CITIZEN As for the Chief did you expect him to act any different he is a yes man and that is all he will ever be

YOU SAID IT... IF THESE PEOPLE WILL RAISE THERE CHILDREN THE RIGHT WAY YOU WOULD NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. IF THEY WOULD BE PARENTS AND NOT JUST DROP THERE KIDS OFF AND GO GET DRUNK THEMSELFES YOU WOULD NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. IT ALL ABOUT HOW YOU ARE RAISED.

Damn!

I have to agree that you never hear anything from the news media about the cops responding to predominantly white events, because when the event is over they go home. They don't try to disarm the security guards working the event and they don't throw rocks and bottles at the police when they are called to the scene. I guess the Courier-journal isn't liberal enough to print stories about white riots. LOL I read the article about homicides in Louisville and all the pictures except one token white guy were all black males. When will the black community quit blaming the police and start blaming themselves for their own violent tendencies?

I'm sorry, but if the shoe fits, wear it. When your kids riot don't blame it on someone else. If your child was sprayed with pepper mace it wasn't becaue they were innocent bystanders, it is because they were in the forefront of a riot. How far do you think that stuff actually goes? I think the Chief of Police has once again opened his mouth only to exchange his other foot. He seems to be making a habbit of shooting off his mouth before the investigation is concluded and we all know how well that went in the McKenzie Mattingly Trial. When will he learn that you can't please everyone and that the criminal and civil disobediant members of society AND their families take a back seat to the law abiding citizens and the officers that protect us.

We're victims of the media again. I spoke with a Commanding Officer who was at the meeting in Newburg. He said the Chief did defend the actions of the officers on the scene. The Chief said, "When you try to disarm an officer or throw rocks at officers it's not a time out situation but yet a riot situation." The Chief apparently was apologizing saying that it was unfortunate that the incident happened in general...not that he was sorry his officers did what they did. The C.O. I talked to said the media edited his statements to make it look like he was apologizing for the on scene officers decisions. Apparently the people at the meeting got mad at him for taking up for us and started walking out.

your entire comment is no doubt borderline racist. Yes i can say that sometimes blacks can blame others for homegrown problems but lets not forget that the entire world blames police officers when there is a situation where the police are unwanted. I can understand your point about not letting your childeren listen to hip-hop or letting them attend an unsupervised event, they are YOUR children and you shalll teach them as you please but hopefully you are not as strict when they become 15,16 etc. because belive me they will find a way to do as they please. The same type of event could have occured at valley. have you been to PRP latley? half of the white kids out that way are dressing and acting in the same hip-hop manner. Lets not single out robbens roost either, anyone been to champs? same situation. My father is a former police officer and he taught me never to judge one race by the actions of a group of individuals. it is the single sided opinion of some officers that give LMPD a bad name.

Oh yeah like we have never used excessive force before... All of you who think in the "us against them" mentality, should turn in your badges and just become some wacko militia group. Did you forget, "To protect and serve" ? We serve the people of the communities in Louisville, whether we like them or not.

I have no problem with the Chief's apology, especially if it keeps us from another "Front Page" news label, basically making us look like "redneck-hillbilly-racist". Oh yes and just to give you a bit of clarity (since I know what you are most likely saying to yourselves) I check caucasian/white in the ethnic column.

I work in Law Enforcement, not as an officer, but as a Dispatcher. I was working the night of the Robbens Roost incident. The news media, or course, told a one sided story. I am very upset with the way our/my officers are being scrutenized for the job they were hired to do: Protect and Serve. A large crowd of unruly juveniles is just as dangerous as any other subject or incident officers may come across. The news failed to mention how juveniles tried to disarm officers; how disrespectful they were towards authority, commands and instructions. Where are parents?! Why does our community continuously band against our officers and their actions? And why does the Chief and our local news media continue to ignore pertinent problems with potential deadly outcomes? Get the stories straight- and support the right side of the LAW!

Aside from the disservice he's done to the officers, he's made it much easier for the city to lose a lawsuit. If the County Attorney isn't concerned about this, then maybe we need a new County Attorney too.

This reminds me so much of a situation that took palce at CHAMPS roller ring two years ago. There was a crowd of 400 teenagers waiting outside to get into an event at CHAMPS. The inside was already beyond max and way to many people inside. Deputies and Officers where working off duty. I myself was working dispatch. A female Juvenile inside had began a fight with a weapon and deputies had palced her in custody and called for a car to take her to JCYC. AS the car pulled up to transport the subject, CHAMPS made the annocemtn outside tha the next 20 people to come in would be the last for the evening.

Of course what do you think is going to happen. the cwod of 400 teenagers rushed the door. Officers and deputies had to establish control and shut down the entrance. Then the crowd turned its rage on the officer in the marked unit in the aprking lot and surronded the car and started rocking it. Units from the Sheriffs office , Metro and Shivley PD where all dispatched to the area, officer in trouble. As officers came on scene the crowd turned thier rage on the officers and began throwing bottles and rocks at them. There was one case where an officer was almost disarmed also.

All officers on scene went into riot mode and pushed the teenagers away from the building and made them disperst. That evening I belive there were 7 arrest all juveniles. Mace was threatoned on this occasion but not used. Fortunatly the crowd dispersed quickly and order was restored.

By the was this was a mix of blacks whites hispanics and all other kinds of races. Fact is it can happen any where at any time if the conditions are right. No parental supervison and poor planning by the local buisness.

The vast difference with this latest incedent is that instead of dispercing the riot of teenagers went to the Whitecastle then to the Walmart. Several surronding buisness and "REAL INNOCENT BYSTANDERS" came into jepordy. Officers had to respond as they did because the please and thankyous stopped working the moment they attacked the officers.

About the way these "innocent children" act, do you really expect anything less from these monkeys when you let them out of their cages at the zoo to go roller skating?

I bet the store video from wal mart, kroger, white castle and walgreens would show just how innocent these little angles were. I heard they were stealing and vandalizing everything.

I can't believe chief white apologized for the officers. When is he going to stand up and be a man and a chief. He needs to tell these people their kid are out of control. They act like they do no wrong. Kid need to respect the Police, I also blame the parents because they don't respect the Police either. I'ts really sad. That why the kids are the way they are today. When are they going to open their eyes. The Chief needs to tell them to take control of their kids. If they dont want to respect the law then they need to move out of the USA......................................
