Do you think that we don't own personal vehicles that require gas to run? Do you think officers want their kids in the back of a germ infested cruiser? How much money did it cost you to get your job? That pretty gun belt we wear with all of those neat gadgets on it will set you back over $1000. The Class A uniforms cost about $100 a piece before you get any alterations or patches sewn on. Boots will run you $70-$100+ Everytime something wears out do you think it's replaced for free? It's not. I guess you want us to pay even more money to go to work everynight? Give me a break and get a clue.

No I would just as soon park it and let the entire smoke and mirrors game come to an abrupt end. If you think the crime rate is high now park all the off duty cars and let the general public get a real look at how thin we are spread.

not all police officers have take home cars that they use. IT is a perk of living in this area so the community thinks there are more of us on the street than there really is. How many times have you been stopped or stopped while not at work to help someone. To stay there at an accident scene to make sure everyone is OK until a report car gets there. Alot of time from being off duty. I for one live outside of Jeff. CO. so I pay for gas everytime I come in to work or go home. This is something I chose to do so I can live where I am. The perks we have are due to giving up alot of other things to get them. What are you willing to give up. It not only is for us but for the goverment, It makes it look like we (PD) are in more places than we actually are. As for working off duty, if the mayor paid us what we should be making we wouldn't have to work a second or third job. Until you are willing to do what this job takes (WALK IN OUR SHOES) don't judge us or what we have. There is alot more to this job than alot of people realize.
