A Vote For The Good Guys

Speaking of Detroit, MI. I just returned from there just a few days ago. I watched the news almost every night up there for about a week. FACT: Detroit and Wayne County have a population of over three million people and Louisville and Jefferson County have a population of 700,000 (nearly 3x LESS than Detroit). It was very rare to hear on the news about violent crimes occuring such as murder, robbery, etc. With 600 police officers layed off from the force in Detroit, how come I didnt hear about violent crimes as you do here in Louisville? One possibilty is probably because Detroit doesnt have a high violent crime rate on average per citizen as Louisville does, or the news is just not reporting it. I guess the point I am trying to make is that as big as Detroit is, I didnt hear much about violent crime occuring as you do here in Louisville. Either violent crimes are not occuring as often in Detroit as in Louisville or its just not newsworthy. I would think it would be newsworthy since they are 600 cops short. It would appear that Louisville has more violent crime than Detroit. And if that is true, something is seriously f**ked up here.

I don't know, it seems like a goodly number of them are willing to leave the Louisville area when they make their 20 - even if only to move to adjacent counties. Every one I know is talking about going to Shelbyville, Bullitt County, etc., after they make their retirement - so why not do it now? (I know, you want to be able to draw a pension and start a second one, but if it is that bad, why not leave now? As long as you are still in the same pension, you could still do that, right?) You can live pretty much anywhere (unless you want to join a Sheriff's Office, then you can't live in Indiana).
