99% of the community supports the police. The media does a very good job of hunting down the very few thugs that don't have respect for their mother let alone a police officer. The media loves to stir the pot because they want to bring on constroversy. Anytime, I hear an uneducated remark like that on the news or in the paper, I remind myself that only 1% of the community feels that way. Good job Bill on saying what 99% of the people really believe.

I am thankful this officer survived. Glad to see at least one news channel backs the police.

Someone above this comment makes a good point. The media always seems to find the most uneducated, thugged out punk on the block and asks for his/her opinion. The one I saw on tv said something to the effect that " I saw the police shoot my BOY!!! For real!" AND????? Fist off, I am sure he did not see it...2nd...who cares? He had a gun, refused to drop it and got shot. He should count his lucky stars he is still alive! DOwn with the thugs....hooray for the cop!

Did anyone see the 1st account by the "reporter" on the scene

for WAVE-TV News. The incident had just occurred and she was

already citing witnesses were giving a different account. Even

when she didn't have the whole story. What a bunch of idiots work

for WAVE and some of the other channels......Bill, on my block

Once again a man that recognizes common sense and plain truth is able to speak his mind. Sometimes the good guys do get into positions where they can make a difference.

There is a legitimate reason to ask who shot first, where the suspect was aiming their gun at the moment of the first shot, etc. It's the same set of questions any (good) Officer would ask if they ran across two civilians who had shot at each other. If everyone automatically assumed the Officer was right without any of those questions being asked and proclaimed him a hero, then you're inviting a federal civil rights investigation and major lawsuits. The problem is when certain politicians, police command staff, members of the media, and community rabble-rousers take the "guilty until proven innocent" stance and stir up hatred and civil disturbances for political or personal gains.

reality is is that the officers will be here alot longer than this administration. It is not the chief it is the mayor and his cronies that make this period of time difficult for LMPD. Hopefully that problem will be taken care of the next election.

You know what I think is sad is that everytime some of you post a comment you have to put something bad about your Chief. Do you honestly think you deserve respect from him when you can't respect him when he tries to do things for you guys. Your mothers should of taught you that. WHAT IS THE BIG PROBLEM? If that really was the chief I wonder why our murder rate is so bad. Lead by example, back the police 110% the murder rate will drop and tell Chris 2x, Lewis Colemon to stay in Shelbyville where they live and life will be good.

The Louisville and Jefferson County police forces (and now LMPD) have always recruited people from the Louisville area, with a few exceptions. Since these people were born and raised in Louisville, you can't expect that they'll quit their job just because the Mayor appoints some incompetent guy from out of town to be the Chief for a few years. How can we do our jobs with such a man in charge? It is indeed very difficult, but it's because we're far more professional as Police Officers than he or his appointees are as the Command Staff. Jerry Abramson is the real problem, because he appointed someone just as incompetent and divisive to be Chief under his previous Administration, and we outlasted that S.O.B. too. I know lots of people in our "Thugtown Estates" neighborhoods would prefer we all quit so the gangs can rule over everyone, but that's not going to happen, so you should move someplace where it's easier to sell drugs and kill people, like Detroit.

MAY ALL THE OFFICERS OUT THERE BE PROTECTED BY THE HAND OF GOD. MAY THE LORD HAVE MERCY ON THEM AS THE FACE THE DRUG DEALERS AND KILLERS....... ALL IN ALL WE HAVE TO PROTECT OUR SELF TO HELP PROTECT OUR OFFICERS. LETS STOP THE BICKERING ABOUT WHOS WHOS AND WHATS WHAT. EVERYTIME I GO ON THIS WEBSITE IT SEEMS LIKE IF NOT EVERYDAY IT IS EVERY OTHER DAY AN OFFICER HAS PASSED AWAY BY ANOTHER MANS HAND.

WE NEED TO REALLY THINK ABOUT THIS WE PUT YELLOW FLAGS OUT AND DECORATE ARE CAR AND PRAY EVERYNIGHT FOR OUR SOLDIERS OVER IN ANOTHER COUNTRY BUT WE NEVER MENTION OUR GIVE THE OFFICER OUT ON OUR, LET ME REPEAT THAT " OUR STREETS" EVERYDAY. TO BREAK IT DOWN FOR YOU GOD APPOINTED THESE OFFICERS TO BE KEEPERS OF HIS LAND THEY SERVE A JOB FOR US AND THE COMMUNITY AS ONE AND MOST OF ALL THE LORD. HOW DARE WE PUT OUR MOUTH ON THEM AND WHEN YOU DO PUT YOUR MOUTH ON THEM IT IS MORE THAN LIKELY BECAUSE YOU ARE DOING SOMETHING WRONG OR SOMEONE IN YOUR FAMILY YOU ARE DEFENDING. AND THE ONLY REASON WHY i SAY THAT IS BECAUSE I USE TO DO IT WHEN I WAS OUT THERE, THOUGHT I WAS AHEAD OF THE STREETS. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US SHOULD PRAY WHEN WE GET UP AND GO TO BED FOR OUR OFFICERS HERE AND EVERYWHERE ELSE BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN YOU ARE NEXT AND THEY HAVE TO PROTECT YOU. BET THEN YOU WILL TREAT THEM LIKE GODS KEEPER. FACE THE FACTS WE ARE SO WRAPED UP IN HOW WE WANT IT DONE AND WE DONT EVEN GO OUT ON THE STREETS TO FIGHT THESE CRIMMINALS . WE PUT ARE OWN OFFICERS IN DANGER.

MAY GOD BLESS OUR OFFICERS AND KEEP THEM FROM DANGER. PUT A PROTECTIVE SHIELD AROUND THEM. KEEP THEIR FAMILY PRAYING FOR THEIR SAFE RETURN. WE PRAY FOR ALL THE FALLIN OFFICER AS IT WAS TIME FOR THEM TO GO TO THE KINGDOM AND SERVE THEIR PURPOSE AS YOU SEEN FIT FOR THEM TO SERVE THEIR PURPOSE HERE.
