Washington D.C Police Officers Get Big Pay Hike

Kudos to the DC police. I haven't gotten at 21 percent pay increase in total during the 14 years I have been here. Pretty Sad!

When is the FOP going to get off their a** and start putting out the Truth about this administration? And I don't mean just getting on TV and whining. Let's show support for the Firefighters, let's show support for everyone else that is getting screwed by this Mayor. I am sick of hearing nothing from the FOP, do you think a website is doing us justice? I have never seen a website go to the negotiations table.

Articles like this make me wonder where the "mayor for strife" has his priorities. Some of our firehouses are in worse shape than slums, we have cruisers with excessive miles and worn out suspensions, and he puts pressure on people to build a new arena. I guess sports are more important than public safety in our city. We need someone to replace the person sitting in the chief's chair who will stand up to Jer and truthfully tell him just how bad some things really are. Start calling your representatives and complain, let them know where your vote will be next time if things don't change! If you are tired of being told to look the other way when cruisers, etc, do something wrong, or, if you think you need someone to support you against the loud mouths, remember all this next election day. I would love to see raises to all street level officers, put the money where the work is really done! Maybe all emergency workers like police, fire and ems could get a pay increase here in louisville. We could fix broken down fire houses, new police cars and etc. Once the new arena is built costing millions of dollars and after a few years of failed attempts to put more than 10 people in the seats, we could sell it to a business associate of metro government for a minimal price and use that money to fund renovation projects or a 1% raise for emergency workers. It just might work.

i would love to run for the fop pres but there would be no beer drinking during votes that affect our pay. and kudos to the buddy at the bar it is still good ol' boy down at the hall. and the 6 meetings ha ha our shifts are short manned so i can't leave work to make em and when i am off, due to the great pay i make i have to decide go to fop meeting with drunks or go work off duty so kids can eat and have roof. let's politic our local rich folks and places like souteast christian and set up non-profit group and account that supplements our income with the right donations we could get maybe an extra $10,000.00 a year and that could be a gift that is not taxable. see all of us cops are not that dumb.

too bad our massive 2 percent wont come close. Oh yeah lets not forget the FOP recommended that we vote for it. HMM I wonder what happen to the surplus occupational tax money that has been our cities budget? Now that our raise is dependent on the occupational tax, wow imagine how it is no longer there. ie last year the occupational tax was 13percent.

It kills me when people whine about something on an anonymous blog, if you don't like the way things have been handled or if you think you can do a better job then run for office in November. Remember you have to go to at least 6 meetings to be eligible to run for office. Quit complaining and do something about the problem.

For god sakes when are we going to stop getting screwed. All of our monthly bills are going up yet we continue to make the same amount of income. What good is the Fop ? They collect a massive amount of dues from all of the members yet we never get a damn thing in return. When are we going to wake up and do something about it. Everyone wants us to do more and more but for less and less money. I'm tired of opening up my paycheck and shaking my head at the lack of money after every deduction under the sun is taken out. We need people who will actually do something for the members and fight for a fair wage so that we are all not working ourselves into a early grave.
