Head of LMPD Training Caught At Airport With Gun In Luggage

Thanks - I didn't know his name, just heard about him from a current U of L officer.

Louisville takes laterals, but what is the rhyme or reason behind their curriculum - why so much law if they are already active officers? That's my point.

And why not PLAN for two lateral classes a year, and make sure that everyone knows they will happen, so that laterals can be hired expeditiously. I understand in the last basic class there was also a guy who's had 8 years of Kentucky experience - some in Jefferson County - why was he in basic?

LMPD has not always had lateral classes. The lateral class going through now is the first for LMPD since the department's creation. Remember LMPD was created in Jan. 2003. ANYONE HIRED after Jan. 2003, but before this current lateral class was hired as a recruit. It did not matter what experience they had. If they wanted the job, that is what they had to take.
