Head of LMPD Training Caught At Airport With Gun In Luggage

Louisville settles a lot of lawsuits to avoid having to defend their training - and that ridiculous. I saw something on the news that Louisville pays out millions to settle lawsuits - particularly with regards to police wrecks - which makes me wonder - what are they being taught that an officer thinks it is OK to run at a high speed without lights and sirens - is that taught - and if the officer IS taught to do that (as I hope) and is found not to have done it - in violation of law - then why are we defending him and paying for his mistake? (I'm OK with representing officers when they are running code legally and lose control, that happens, but when the officer does NOT do what the law requires - and what I presume training requires - why?)

I think you've been misled somewhere along the line. LMPD takes laterals that have been through the academy. Those laterals have to go through additional training to acclimate themselves to LMPD. They do not have to go through basic again. I don't think that your alleged former U of L Officer had to go through basic a second time.
