Head of LMPD Training Caught At Airport With Gun In Luggage

Badge

March 7th, 2005 @ 3:27PM (19 years ago)

Initially, when I logged on to this website, I did so out of curiosity (after a friend told me about some of your comments). After reading some of your outrageous responses, I felt a strong urge to respond. Itâ??s really out of character for me to take the time to respond to such nonsensical statements.

My email was not intended to insult anyone. As a career law enforcement manager (over 30 years experience), I have come to recognize that we all have biases (whether consciously or unconsciously. My point was that you should be careful not to allow your biases to interfere with your evaluation of this incident, and recklessly attack â??Spongeâ? Bobâ??s character.

In reading the various comments (on this website), I noted that most of you focused on the following:

How did he get a badge?

He is not a police officer.

The chief hired his friend.

The chief takes unfair discipline.

The chief did this or did that.

It appears that most of you have a dislike for Chief White and Bob Stewart (for whatever reason). If you think that Chief White improperly awarded a contract to Stewart, there are legal avenues to address this, and other complaints. However, you should refrain from attacking a manâ??s character (regarding this incident), especially when you donâ??t know all the facts.

As a retiree from the Washington, DC Police Department, I am very familiar with both Chief White and Bob Stewart. However; IT MUST BE NOTED THAT WE ARE NOT CLOSE PERSONAL FRIENDS AND I AM NOT WRITING THIS RESPONSE TO DEFEND THEM.

Only a fool, or a crazy person would intentionally carry a firearm into an airport and place the bag containing it on the XRAY screening belt. Base on my knowledge of Bob Stewart, he does not fall into either category. I suggest that you all take a deep breath and allow the Federal authorities to complete that investigation.
