Obviously you don't think about family issues like child care and single parents that become police officers. How would you like to find a sitter for 18 weeks? Richmond is fine for smaller departments but much of the curriculum they teach has no bearing on LMPD or other major departments. Why spend a week on figerprinting when our agency will never ask you to lift a single print?

Where is this cheaper land you speak of???What would be the cost of the land, the cost of building facilities and the cost of building a driver's track. We had all of that at Southfields's and it has already been paid for. Is this the kind of planning you are talking about?

Southfield's should be expanded, not sold. We should continue to train our people in Louisville for Louisvill. I trained at Richmond. SOme of the same instructors that taught me are still there. They have some nice people, but none of them are in the same league with our training staff.

Face it, someone who worked two years at Mt. Sterling and was fired has no business training Officers in Urban environments.

It would actually cost the department and taxpayers more money to send them to Richmond because they have to pay for more uniforms and food to blend with DOCJT recruits. They will still have to go through a pre-academy and then a post-academy to get them where they need to be. The time spent training them would be the same and they would get more Louisville specific training where they are now. But it makes sense to train them here, so I quess they'll start sending back to Richmond eventually.
