The CJ has always been strongly pro-Democratic, the different was that Bingham was still a newspaperman. Those there now are businesspeople. Hawpe is blindly pro-Abramson, the only thing that keeps him somewhat honest is the TV news, their only competition.
Unfortunately, everyone I know voted for Abramson, because they didn't see there was any alternative and thought he did a good job before. (I didn't - because I pretty much forecast many of the problems coming up right now - and it didn't take much effort.)
And for the record, I live in the West End - and most of my neighbors are strongly disillusioned with Abramson at this point. The elimination of the Sixth District REALLY ticked off a lot of people - as we fought to get it back before, only to lose it again. I know that I rarely have a beat officer on my beat - I know one is assigned, they just aren't ON the beat. And I've got a useless council member.
