"The entire city" is the key phrase. Only about 1 in 5 registered voters bother to vote for Metro Mayor. The east end Democrats of Lexington Road and the Highlands usually do the picking. The west end votes for who they're told to vote for. It was both sad and funny when they all pretended not to have repeatedly voted in Greg Fischer last summer as they called for his removal.

The Republicans could win Metro Mayor but they have a weak party in this state who can't even push most of their agenda through the state legislature even when they could easily override a veto. The difference is they're "nice guys" who do politics part time, while the democrats are full time, cut-throat and always willing to go to the mat to win.

Louisville is probably doomed to have higher and higher crime, fewer and fewer good jobs, like all the other democrat controlled cities. If the Republicans can't beat this Fischer clone hotel guy and the activists running for Mayor as democrats, then it's time to abandon this city. They can put 24 hour "DUI checkpoints" in every direction to deter the criminals from going to neighboring counties.
