Jeffersontown Police Department names new chief

It was the state's fault in part, but some who were or are in charge at LMPD share the blame for untested kits here. The current Lt took a lot of the blame in the media however it goes much higher than her and goes back many years to prior Chiefs too. Both the politicians and Chiefs decided that rape kit testing money took a back seat to picnics in the park, subsidizing private business expansions and the dozens of special event traffic details. No money means no testing and the policy was made to match what the money allowed.

The lab cant keep up with legit cases... if homicide collects 75 pieces of critical evidence in a high profile murder case... They can only send 10 items to the crime lab. KY should be ashamed and LMPD needs our own crime lab like similar depts our size... but then again similar depts to LMPD also have traffic units 5 times bigger and full time SWAT teams and much better PAY!
