Lt's and above could be deemed as exempt from the overtime requirement because they're managerial. They're only entitled to their regularly hourly rate for hours worked above 40. Sgt's and Officers must be paid time and a half for anything over 40 hours per week. They must be getting more bad legal or human resources advice if they're going to move forward before the law is changed.
