The big mouths would have you believe the public only wants to make the streets safe for criminals. Everytime we hear apologetic words from the department for a criminal who got shot as he tried to murder an officer, it sends the wrong message to the thugs and the officers alike."

I agree with this.

Here's 1 more example of some giving a bad impression. People who haven't walked a beat in over 15 years should try getting out of the office before they second guess the need for a neighborhood patrol in the west end. Quoting that stupid slogan invented by Janet Napolitano just makes it worse.
