Wrong. Sheriff is the boss law enforcement officer in Kentucky. He also collects taxes which he kindly to the Metro council. A joke of a council at that.

Yes, they do ... and most do it simply because they can't afford to change out the uniforms. More and more are changing over as they are fighting to get the respect the office deserves. And are you truly so ignorant of the statutory responsibilities of the sheriff - that cannot be "given away" to other people - tax collection, elections, serving the courts, prisoner transport, etc. They make most of their budget through fees, not through a disbursement from Metro Council - many sheriffs get little to nothing from their county governments.
