if the next Sheriff wants to take over patrol services for the former county and expand then have at it. We were better off with 2 police departments than under Metro. The departments were run better and a lot less political than today.

Yet I remember Aubrey, when a candidate, claiming that Vaughn was deficient because he didn't have a SWAT team - no joke. Aubrey is a figurehead, he doesn't run the department - Hettich does and always has. And just the opposite, most of the old police want cars, so they are parked in civil process, out riding around. (Remember, the last deputy murdered was on civil process. Plus, they also do felony warrants, EPO/DVOs and MIWs - can't get much more dangerous than that.)
